Greg King
Director, Enterprise Innovation Institute at Georgia Tech Greg King is a Director with the Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute focused on corporate partnerships and economic development. In this role, Mr. King develops innovation, research and talent partnerships between companies and campus. In addition, Greg advances the university’s efforts to build a cohesive entrepreneurial network by working closely with the start-up community and industry to create the connections and opportunities for both groups. He also serves in a leadership position with the University System of Georgia as Director of Corporate Liaison and Economic Development with the Vice Chancellor of Economic Development. In this system wide role he represents all 31 campuses of Georgia’s public university system for economic development and serves as part of the State's economic development team supporting the recruitment and expansion of business in Georgia. Prior to his current position, King served as Group Manager for Strategic Initiatives within Georgia Tech’s Economic Development Institute (EDI). While in this role he developed and led a unique multi-agency economic development program serving high growth companies around the state. Greg has also led community development efforts for Georgia Tech as the Group Manager for Community and Technology Services where his project teams worked around the state advising local leadership on technology led economic development, strategic planning, entrepreneur and start-up support, incubator readiness and more. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Mr. King served as an officer in the United States Navy in a variety of leadership assignments, operations and locations throughout the world. He earned a Masters in Economics from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech. Greg has participated in the U.S. Fulbright Program in Germany, sharing higher education best practices. He is a certified economic developer (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). |
Carl A. Rust
Associate Vice President for International Initiatives, Director of the Strategic Partners Office Carl A. Rust is Associate Vice President for International Initiatives at the Georgia Institute of Technology where he is responsible for advocating for, supporting, and pursuing the university’s international goals, particularly those related to international industry-university collaboration, entrepreneurship, commercialization, and economic development. He is also Director of the Strategic Partners Office where he is responsible for developing, enhancing, and managing strategic industrial relationships broadly across campus with small, medium, and large companies from around the world. Mr. Rust has over 22 years of experience in industry-university relationships, technology transfer, new business development, commercialization, strategic operations, economic development, open innovation, and global collaboration. As executive director of CALCE Research Center at the University of Maryland, he helped the center grow from an annual budget of approximately $1 million to $7 million in five years. He was also associate director of the Packaging Research Center at Georgia Tech where he was responsible for annually managing $20 million research and education collaboration with more than 50 companies and government agencies from around the world. His prior industrial experience includes serving as engineer manager at Texas Instruments and co-founding four technology-based start-up companies. He also serves as a consultant for the National Science Foundation and other organizations on industry-university collaboration and innovation matters. He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from The Citadel and seventeen publications. |
